THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION FOCUSES ON SUCCESSFUL PROMOTIONS IN MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL:
Cincinnati Reds Promotion.
If the Reds' pitchers combine for 11 strikeouts in a game, every fan in attendance gets a free small pizza with up to four toppings on it from LaRosa's and a free scoop of Homemade Brand Ice Cream from any United Dairy Farmers store. They call it "Strikeout for Slices and Scoops". This promotion runs throughout the whole season. Ticket holders will hear about the promotion through PA announcements and signage before and after each game at the Great American Ball Park.
Milwaukee Brewers Promotion.
When the Brewers score at least five runs in a game, burgers at George Webb restaurants are six for $5 from the moment they score the fifth run until midnight. The promotion runs all season and includes home and away games. This promotion benefits all Brewers fans since you don't physically have to be at the game to receive the incentive. The Brewers don't need to win the game, they just need to score at least five runs.
Los Angeles Dodgers Promotion.
Fans can text WINGSTOP to 41632 before any game to get a coupon. If a Dodgers player hits a home run in the sixth inning and during a home game, that coupon activates the next day and gives the fan five free boneless wings with the purchase of a 20-ounce soda or fries. This promotion is well liked for Dodgers fans because they don't necessarily have to be at the game to receive the coupon. However, with specifics such as the fact the home run has to be in the 6th inning and the game has to be home, it obviously doesn't happen every game.
Best and Worst 2013 MLB Giveaways.
In this article, ESPN goes into depth about the best and worst 2013 giveaways in Major League Baseball. Now everyone loves receiving free stuff, but some of these giveaways are just...awkward. For example on June 2nd the Miami Marlins are giving away a "Giancarlo Stanton arm sleeve". First of all, they don't even clarify if this is an arm sleeve tattoo or what the professionals wear during games. Either way, it's pretty much useless for any Marlins fan. One of my favorite promotions, which also happens to be on June 2nd, is with the Oakland Athletics. They are doing a giveaway with a Coco Crisp cereal bowl. If you have a ballplayer on your team named COCO CRISP and you don't capitalize on making a cereal bowl, you probably shouldn't be a sports marketer. This is a great play and something that is useful for fans of all ages. Attached is the ESPN article, which goes into greater detail about more giveaways:

Seattle Mariners Promotion
Okay, the Seattle Mariners earned my respect with this giveaway. On April 26th, the Seattle Mariners will offer to the first 20,000 fans their first ever "Beard Hat Night". This is a must-have fashion accessory, sporting a ski cap with faux facial hair. Not only is this promotion clever, but humorous as well. People of all ages will be sporting their freshly grown beards to their friends. I think this is a creative idea that is both unique and original. It's out of the norm so I find the Mariners to have a good promotions staff to come up with this clever idea. If you don't believe me, just LOOK AT THE PICTURE.
That's enough to make me a Mariners fan.
